FORT MILL, S.C. — Continental A.G.is recalling 7,103 passenger and SUV/CUV tires from the three product lines — including 2,937 in the U.S.— that may experience sudden air loss or belt-edge separation, which could lead to partial or full tread loss.
Conti said it has not received any reports of accidents or injuries related to these tires. All tires that are the subject of this voluntary recall will be replaced free of charge.
In the U.S. market, 2,937 of the targeted tires were sold through the tire replacement business or are still in tire dealers' inventories, Conti said.
Continental began informing the relevant national authorities on Dec. 5 and is in close contact with its customers and dealers about how to organize and implement the exchange program.
The tires being recalled are:
- Continental 4X4 Contact, size 255/55R19 111V XL— last four digits of the DOT code: 1422; mold number 222902 or 210017
- Continental Pure Contact LS, size: 215/60R16 95V — last four digits of the DOT code: 1122; mold number 246807 or 246026
- Continental Terrain Contact H/T, size: 255/55R20 107H — last four digits of the DOT number: 1922; mold number 251673.
The tires were produced in Continental A.G.'s factory in Lousada, Portugal, earlier this year.
