FORT MILL, S.C. — Continental Tire the Americas has launched the TrueContact Tour54, an all-season touring tire designed for passenger cars and crossovers.
According to Conti, the TrueContact Tour54 features EcoPlus Technology, which saves fuel and optimizes range while providing shorter stopping distances on wet roads, extending extended tread life.
The tire replaces predecessor the TrueContact Tour, as well as the PureContact LS luxury, all-season touring tire in the Conti portfolio. It is available in sizes fitting 15-inch to 20-inch rim diameters. The tire has a 80,000 mile limited warranty.
"We took two of our leading touring tires and made them into one even better tire," Bill Caldwell, senior vice president marketing & sales at Continental, said.
This is the first Continental tire manufactured with the EV (electric vehicle) compatible logo stamped into the sidewall. The Hanover, Germany-based tire maker said all of its product lines are optimized for all types of vehicles, including EVs.
The TrueContact Tour54 features Continental's Tuned Performance Indicators: D, W and S symbols in the tread that disappear when the tire is no longer tuned for optimum performance in either dry (D), wet (W) or snow (S).
The tire also includes Continental's Alignment Verification System — indicators in both sides of the tread that either wear off evenly, Conti said, ensuring proper alignment, or wear off unevenly, alerting the consumer to check the alignment.
Among the attributes of the tire, Conti said, are extended tread life; improved wet braking; enhanced dry and wet handling; and traction in light snow.
"We made improvements to the already top-performing touring tires and we are pleased with the advances made," Caldwell said.
