    NASHVILLE, Tenn. — Bridgestone Americas Inc. has released a Firestone-brand drive tire for long-haul and regional truck operations, the FD694 drive tire.

    The tire, designed with Firestone's deepest on-highway tread pattern, offers "excellent longevity" and "trusted performance in wet and winter conditions," Bridgestone said.

    The FD694 drive tire is available in a 295/75R22.5 size with sizes 11R22.5, 11R24.5, with 285/75R24.5 available soon.

    "Long haul and regional trucking fleets face a unique set of challenges: varied weather patterns, unpredictable roadways and pressure to efficiently deliver goods on time," said Chris Tavares, executive director, commercial marketing for Bridgestone Americas.

    "With the FD694, we set out to build a tire that offers more of everything for fleets of any size. The FD694 is designed to work harder to deliver more wear resistance, more durability, and more traction in all conditions, all with the trusted Firestone brand."

    Bridgestone said the tire features:

    • A deep and high rigidity tread pattern and solid shoulder design for long, even wear across a variety of applications;
    • A water-resistant tread compound aimed at delivering exceptional mileage;
    • A cap/base compound that protects the casing from heat while promoting enhanced mileage and retreadability;
    • A wide shoulder and center grooves that offer solid grip on wet road; and
    • A dependable casing that fights irregular wear and features stone rejector platforms to help proect against hazards that would penetrate the belt layer.

    Bridgestone said the tire, combined with its complementary Bandag retreads, can help reduce operating cost and environmental impacts, maximizing fleet uptime and sustainability. The FD694 also can be supported by Bridgetone's tire monitoring service, IntelliTire.

    Pricing information was not disclosed.
