AKRON — Do you know a fellow tire dealer who goes above and beyond for their community?
It's time to bring that dealer some much needed recognition — as well as money for the dealer's favorite charity by nominating a deserving candidate for the Tire Business Tire Dealer Humanitarian award.
An independent panel will judge the nominations, and the winner not only will receive the Tire Business Tire Dealer Humanitarian Medal as well as a trip for two to the SEMA Show in Las Vegas, but he or she also will receive a check for $2,500, to be donated to the charity of the winner's choice.
The award, in its 30th year, is given to an independent tire dealer or retreader who during the past year has made significant contributions to the betterment of their community through charitable and/or public service work.
The winner will be recognized on Oct. 30 during the annual Tire Industry Association (TIA) Honors program, which will be held at prior to the opening of the SEMA Show, which is scheduled to run Oct. 31-Nov. 3
Last year's winner was Kim McMahon, president of McMahon's Best-One Tire & Auto Care in Fort Wayne, Ind. McMahon was the first individual woman to receive the award.
In 2021, the dealership donated more than $100,000 to about 37 non-profit organizations.
