    NASHVILLE, Tenn. — Bridgestone Americas Inc. will increase prices up to 8% on April 1 on its portfolio of Bridgestone-brand commercial truck tires and Bandag retreading products in the U.S. and Canada.

    "This price adjustment is a necessary step as Bridgestone continues to manage increased business costs, including escalating transportation and raw material costs that are forecast to continue into the second half of the year," the tire maker said.

    The new pricing will take effect April 1. Price adjustments will be implemented at the pattern and article levels and may vary based on channel, Bridgestone said.

    Specific details will be communicated by Bridgestone account managers directly to national account fleet customers, original equipment manufacturers and dealers by March 1.

    On Jan. 1 Bridgestone increased prices on select Bridgestone and Firestone passenger and light truck replacement tires sold in the U.S. and Canada by an undisclosed amount.

    Bridgestone is the latest tire maker to announce price increases in 2021. Others include:

    • Apollo Tyres Ltd., Vredestein brand products in the U.S. and Canada by up to 5%, effective March 1;
    • Alliance Tire Americas Inc., "adjusting" warehouse and factory-direct order pricing across all product lines for Alliance-, Galaxy- and Primex-brand products by undisclosed amounts, effective Jan. 1;
    • Continental Tire the Americas L.L.C., select Continental- and General-brand passenger and light truck tires in the U.S., effective March 1;
    • Michelin North America Inc., prices in the U.S. and Canada on commercial services; select commercial offers to fleet customers; select material handling products, by an undisclosed amount on March 1;
    • Michelin on Michelin- and BFGoodrich-brand passenger and light truck tires in the U.S. by up to 5% on Feb. 1; and
    • Pirelli Tire North America L.L.C., replacement car and light truck tires by undisclosed amount, effective Jan. 1.
