OTROKOVICE, Czech Republic — Trelleborg Wheel Systems S.p.A. has completed an expansion project at its agricultural tire production plant in Otrokovice, in southeastern Czech Republic.
Following the two-year multi-million-dollar project, the project increased the plant's capacity by 50%, making it "one of the most technologically advanced sites in the industry," Trelleborg said.
Trelleborg disclosed the expansion project in 2019 in line with the company's decision to add earthmover tires to its OTR product portfolio
Trelleborg took over the Otrokovice plant as part of its 2016 acquisition of Czech-based CGS Holding and its Mitas tire operations. The plant's capacity prior to this expansion was 42,000 metric tons per year of farm and construction tires, according to Tire Business' Global Tire Report.
According to Czech media, the expansion project involved the construction of a 172,000-sq.-ft. hall connected to the existing manufacturing building and involved the transfer of 100 jobs from Trelleborg's nearby Zlín, Czech Republic, site.
