INDIANAPOLIS — Tire Discounters has opened two more stores in the Indianapolis area, expanding its presence there to eight stores and 130-plus locations in the dealership's six-state marketing area.
The newest locations in the western Indianapolis neighborhood of Avon and in Westfield, a community of 40,000-plus about 20 miles north of Indianapolis, respectively — are built according to Tire Discounters' standard platform of eight to 10 service bays and 10 to 12 employees.
Cincinnati-based Tire Discounters — the seventh largest independent retail tire dealership in the U.S. — promoted employees from within the store network in Indiana to manage the new stores but declined to identify them.
"As a family business, it's important to us to have local folks leading our stores," Crissy Niese, chief customer officer and senior vice president, said.
The company did not say if, when or how it celebrated the new stores' openings.
The dealership also opened a store in Athens, Ala., shortly before Christmas, expanding the store network in Alabama to seven, all in or around Huntsville. Athens is a western suburb of Huntsville with a population of 20,000-plus.
Family owned and operated Tire Discounters, the nation's seventh-largest independent tire and automotive service retailer, is now open in Athens, Alabama. The new location is conveniently located on Highway 72 near the junction with I-65. "We're excited to bring our unique approach to tire and automotive repair to Athens. Now our customers won't have to drive over to Huntsville to see us," says Crissy Niese, chief customer officer, SVP.
The dealership opened its first store in Indianapolis in May 2019 as part of plan to add 19 stores by mid-2020. Tire Discounters operates retail stores in Alabama, Georgia, Indiana, Kentucky, Ohio and Tennessee.
