INDIAN LAND, S.C. — Snider Fleet Solutions, the No. 2 commercial tire dealership in the U.S., is relocating its headquarters to Indian Land from North Carolina in a move to consolidate its management operations now spread out among multiple facilities throughout the Carolinas.
Snider Fleet has budgeted $6.9 million for the move to a 50,000-sq.-ft. office building in Indian Land, according to South Carolina Gov. Henry McMaster's office. Snider Fleet expects to employ 167 at the new headquarters. The move will be official June 1.
The company currently maintains management quarters in Greensboro — where John H. Snider founded the company in 1976 — and Newton, N.C. The new facility is part of a new commercial office park being built in Lancaster County.
"This is a great growth opportunity for Snider, our customers, employees and suppliers," Snider Fleet Solutions CEO Marty Herndon said, noting that as a native South Carolinian he looks forward to the company being an active member in Indian Land, Lancaster County and the state.
"This move gives us the space and location to best manage our expanding offerings to customers across our service area. Our corporate staff has been working in multiple offices throughout the Carolinas. We will now be able to bring our team together and have all that talent collaborating in this new office."
Snider Fleet operates 80 commercial tire service locations in 11 states, predominantly throughout the Southeast and Gulf Coast, capable of servicing 75% of the U.S. The dealership, which also is considered the No. 4 truck tire retreader in the U.S., generated an estimated $700 million in revenue last year.
Snider Fleet's decision to relocate its headquarters "reinforces South Carolina's position as an ideal location for companies looking to harness logistical opportunities and service customers efficiently," Harry Ligsey III, secretary of commerce for South Carolina, said. "We … look forward to supporting the company as it lays the groundwork for a prosperous future."
Steve Harper, Lancaster County Council chair, noted that Snider Fleet Solutions' relocation "is a testament to the vibrant and growing economy in Lancaster County and South Carolina."
Indian Land is an unincorporated community in the northernmost part of Lancaster County. It's about 20 miles south of Charlotte, N.C., six miles east of Fort Mill, S.C., where Continental Tire the Americas is headquartered, and close to the Charlotte Airport.
