DAYTON, Tenn. — Nokian Tyres Inc. plans to hire around 50 people in September during the second stage of hiring at its factory in Rhea County, where it is preparing to launch a second shift of production.
Potential applicants can apply at NokianTires.com/DaytonFactory. Previous applicants need to re-apply to indicate their willingness to work a night shift.
The global tire company seeks candidates to work in its mixing, tire production, quality, maintenance and logistics areas, and those interested in performing tasks related to general factory overhead.
Most production positions require a high school diploma or GED and experience with lean/process improvement tools and/or interest in advancing knowledge in this area.
An associate's degree from an accredited community, technical or vocational college is preferred, as is one or two years of direct experience in a manufacturing environment.
All employees at the Dayton Factory are required to wear masks while inside and are screened daily for COVID-19 symptoms and possible exposure to others.
Nokian ultimately plans to hire approximately 400 employees to produce tires and oversee operations at the Dayton factory, its first production facility in North America.
