DIAMOND BAR, Calif. — Nexen Tire America Inc. has opened its third distribution center in the U.S., in Lockbourne, Ohio, just south of Columbus in central Ohio.
Nexen will service customers throughout the Midwest, Great Lakes and the Northeastern States. Nexen also operates distribution centers in California and Georgia.
The facility is 240,000 square feet, and Nexen will use 190,000 square feet. The building previously was used by Continental Tires the Americas and is now being leased by Nexen.
According to Nexen, Ohio was "strategically" chosen as the latest site for a D/C because of its centralized location, allowing for increased efficiencies and "prioritizing customers' needs."
The new D/C will result in shorter delivery times and lower costs, Nexen said, while providing more resources to its network of dealers.
Nexen hired a third party warehousing company for daily operations and purchased new racks to accommodate its inventory. The third-party company has a staff of nine employees there.
John Hagan, vice president of sales for Nexen, said that after the planning state, "we are excited to bring an additional warehouse into operation to further support our distributors and retailers. We understand with the global impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, our priority is to be there to support our partners in every way possible.
"This warehouse is an example of our ongoing support to our partners, and we will be there to support and fill your business needs in the future."
Lockbourne is a village of about 250, located near Rickenbacker International Airport, and with access to Interstates 70 and 71 that intersect in Columbus.
