ATLANTA — Kumho Tire USA Inc. plans to open a 400,000-sq.-ft. distribution center in Dallas in April that will serve customers in 15 Southern and Midwestern states.
The new facility will be able to house 540,000 tires at full capacity and is scheduled to commence operations in April, Kumho said. It will be Kumho's third distribution center in the U.S., joining ones in Rancho Cucamongo, Calif., and McDonough, Ga.
"The strategically placed warehouse will allow Kumho to operate at a higher level of efficiency to ensure that customers are provided an elite level of service and access to the Kumho products that they need," Shawn Denlein, president of sales and marketing, said.
The leased facility is located in an industrial park about seven miles west of downtown Dallas with nearby access to I-30 and Texas State Route 12.
The company said this move is the first step of an overall expansion in North America.
The Atlanta-based subsidiary of South Korea's Kumho Tire Co. Inc. also has plans to open a 350,000-sq.-ft. warehouse in Franklin, La., capable of holding up to 470,000 tires. That facility won't open until April 2026.
