SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. — Reinalt-Thomas Corp. is expanding the scope of its mobile-tire fitting business — launched in 2022 through its Tire Rack business unit — making that service available at 36 Discount Tire outlets in 14 states.
Scottsdale-based Reinalt-Thomas/Discount Tire declined to comment on its strategy for mobile tire-fitting.
The dealership charges a minimum of $50 per visit and restricts the service to tires of 13- to 22-inch rim diameters, according to the Discount Tire website.
Discount Tire first ventured into the mobile tire-fitting business in late 2021 with its acquisition of Tire Rack Inc., which in turn had acquired the ASAP Mobile Tire business a few years earlier.
The Tire Rack-branded business operates at 28 locations, including some co-located on Tire Rack and/or Discount Tire properties, that dispatch mobile service vans to customers in their respective geographic areas.
Thus far, Discount Tire is offering mobile tire-fitting at five stores each in Arizona, Colorado and Texas; three stores each in Florida, Georgia and Washington; two stores each in Illinois, North Carolina, Ohio and Pennsylvania; and single stores in Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri and Virginia.
It's not know how many vans per store are in operation.
Separately, Discount Tire has an undisclosed number of mobile vans that carry out fleet services, offering tire installation, tire and wheel inspections, tread-depth monitoring, air checks and flat repairs, rotation/balancing, TPMS resets, etc.
The fleet service advertises that its vans can handle commercial tires in 17.5- and 19.5-inch rim diameters in addition to standard car/SUV/light-truck sizes.
