SUZHOU, China — The backers of a tire manufacturing venture in the United Arab Emirates have selected China's Safe-Run Machinery (Suzhou) Co. Ltd. to supply tire-building machines and curing presses for the plant under construction in Abu Dhabi, according to Safe-Run.
The $615 million Roadbot Tire Project, supported by Chinese and UAE investors, is being built in Abu Dhabi's Khalifa Industrial Zone (KIZAD) and is projected to begin producing car and truck tires by year-end 2020.
Suzhou-based Safe-Run also said it will help build the plant's smart system for full-process automation. Safe-Run did not disclose the value of contract.
Passenger tire production at the plant will start at 3 million units/year and ramp up to 10 million by 2022. The plant also will have production capacity of 1 million truck/bus radials a year.
