TOKYO — Bridgestone Corp. is planning to increase capacity and upgrade technology at a tire plant in Pune, India, with a three-year, $75 million investment in response to increasing market demand.
The expansion plan will be carried out through 2026, Bridgestone said, and is expected to boost capacity at the 10-year-old plant by 10% to 12%. According to Tire Business' 2022 Global Tire Report, the Pune plant has capacity to produce 10,700 passenger. light and medium truck tires per day with 12,700 employees.
This latest investment, announced locally by Bridgestone India Pvt. Ltd., comes five years after Bridgestone disclosed a five-year, $304 million expansion project at plants in Pune and Indore, India.
Those investments were designed to enhance the size production mix capability of both plants in order to match more closely the evolution of car models being released to the local market.
