LEXINGTON, Ky. — Bill Morgan Tire has opened a ContiLifeCycle retread plant in Lexington, the first new such facility to open in the city in 40 years, according to Continental Tire the Americas.
The 25,000-sq.-ft. facility is designed with a capacity for more than 15,000 retreads in its first year, according to Continental, making it one of the largest commercial truck tire retread plants in the commonwealth.
Bill Morgan III opened the business in May 2018, working alone. Today, the company has three locations, in Richmond, Lexington and Corbin, Ky., with 28 employees and plans to add 10 more in the next year and a half.
The Morgan family has been in the tire industry for more than 50 years, Conti said. The dealership serves customers in central and eastern Kentucky along with Knoxville, Tenn., and Cincinnati, with a strong emphasis on off-the-road, farm and industrial tires.
Morgan said the company considered several retreading system suppliers before deciding to align with Conti.
"Being able to offer our customers a premium retread and a new tire that matched up to the retread was of utmost importance to us here at Bill Morgan Tire," Morgan said.
He said Conti offers "superior technology products that give us the competitive edge when we go to market. The entire process from the design to training was of the highest quality and has made the choice to partner with Continental Tire a great one."
ContiLifeCycle is a cradle-to-grave sustainable approach, Conti said, prolonging the life of commercial tires at every stage, lowering the cost to fleet owners. The process begins with a new tire and continues with Continental's retreading process based upon their durable casings.
Bill Morgan Tire also offers heavy-duty tire repair services with the MonaFlex system.
