RICHMOND, Va. — The Virginia Automotive Association (VAA) has selected a new executive director to succeed Steve Akridge, who has led the organization for 32 years.
The association's board has appointed Bo Keeney, president of Keeney Group, as executive director, effective July 1.
Keeney has worked with the association's legislative committee over the past several years and has served as its registered lobbyist and legislative counsel.
Prior to this, he worked closely with his father, Bruce Keeney, who had served in this role for VAA for 13 years.
Keeney and his wife, Sarah, co-own Keeney Group, which manages a few other associations and has experience with typical association functions, such as bookkeeping, newsletters, websites, endorsed programs, and conventions and trade shows, the VAA said.
Akridge will cut back to part-time Sept. 1 and assist with the transition for at least a year, he said.
