CINCINNATI — Tire Discounters Inc. has hired industry veteran Jeff Campbell, a vice president with Monro Inc. for the past four years, to be its vice president, purchasing.
Mr. Campbell, who worked in merchandising and procurement at Monro for four years before joining Tire Discounters this summer, also is board chairman for the Automotive Maintenance & Repair Association (AMRA), a position he's held since November 2017.
The purchasing vice presidency is a new position at Tire Discounters.
Commenting on Mr. Campbell's hiring, Tire Discounters President Jamie Ward said: "Our procurement team is poised to deliver the value we need to remain one of the nation's top tire and automotive retailers for years to come."
Prior to joining Monro in 2016, Mr. Campbell spent nearly nine years with Sears Holding Corp. in various merchandise positions in the Sears Automotive business and 19 months with TBC Corp.'s retail business division. His industry career started at NTW Inc. in Ohio in 1995; TBC bought NTW in 2003.
Cincinnati-based Tire Discounters is ninth-largest independent tire retailer in the U.S. with 120 stores in six states — Alabama, Georgia, Indiana, Kentucky, Ohio and Tennessee — and more 1,200 employees.
The dealership is in the midst of a growth spurt, having disclosed plans earlier this year to open 19 stores by April 2020, including seven stores in the Indianapolis metro area, a new territory.
