AKRON — Award-winning journalist David Manley has been named managing editor at Tire Business.
Mr. Manley brings 16 years of journalism experience to his new job at Tire Business. He spent the last 6-plus years at The Canton (Ohio) Repository, where he most recently was visual content editor, overseeing the design department that was responsible for the print, website and social media content for 10 publications around Northeast Ohio.
Mr. Manley also was business editor for a time at the Canton paper, leading a team of reporters who detailed business news in and around Stark County, Ohio.
Mr. Manley, also an accomplished photographer, was in charge of the photo department at the Repository, coordinating photo and video shoots as well as managing staff. He served as a member of the newspaper's editorial board, helping to formulate the publication's position on issues.
He also wrote a popular parenting column, called "Editor Dad," during his newspaper days.
In his new role, Mr. Manley will help oversee the staff at Tire Business and tirebusiness.com, contributing to the writing, editing and design of the print and digital publications. He also will play a key role in social media outreach.

Mr. Manley has won numerous awards in Ohio Associated Press Media Editors (APME) contest, including Graphic Artist of the Year, second place, 2017; Best Special Sports Section, second place, 2017; Best Illustration, second place, 2017; Best Full Page Design, second place, 2017; and Columnist of the Year, second place, 2015.
Prior to his time with the Canton Repository, he worked at The Journal-Standard in Freeport, Ill. There, he was named AP Business Writer of the Year in 2012, Feature Writer of the Year in 2012 and Columnist of the Year in 2011.
A native of Centerville, Ohio, Mr. Manley has a journalism degree from Point Park University in Pittsburgh. He and his wife Stefanie live in North Canton, Ohio, with their two daughters and cat.
