INDIANAPOLIS — Rich Elliott, who has spent 29 years with Best-One of Indy — most recently as president of the organization — will retire, effective Sept. 20.
Bruce Piper, president of Southern Indiana Tire, will succeed Elliott.
Best-One of Indy, which was founded in 1986 and currently has 15 tire and service locations in Central Indiana, said Elliott has played a "significant role in shaping the company's values and operational excellence," and said his departure will be felt by colleagues and customers alike.
Lindsey Beer, co-chief strategic officer of Best-One Corp., said Elliott has been positive influence.
"His heart for discipleship and desire to help people grow is at the core of each decision he makes, conversation he has, and drives the way he leads and loves each person he encounters," Beer said. "His commitment to our Best-One mission, vision, and core values has been a solid reflection of the way he lived his life and led corporations to profitability, growth and success."
Elliott is credited for founding the Heritage Classic, a golf tournament originally intended as a gathering for friends to deepen their Christian faith.
According to Best-One, the tournament took on new meaning in 2004 when Elliott was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis, shifting the focus of the tournament toward raising awareness and funds for MS research and support. Over the past 20 years, the Heritage Classic has allowed the company to contribute$1 million to the National MS Society.
"This achievement not only reflects Rich's commitment to the cause but also highlights the collective effort of all participants and sponsors who have joined in this noble pursuit," Best-One said in a statement.
