NOKIA, Finland — Jukka Moisio, who has been president and CEO of Nokian Tyres P.L.C. since May 2020, has announced his retirement.
Moisio, 62, told the company's board of directors this week he will retire this year. The board has started looking for a successor.
During his tenure, Nokian decided sold its passenger tire factory in Russia, following the country's 2022 invasion of Ukraine.
The plant, opened by Nokian in 2005 and located in Vsevolozhsk, Russia, was acquired by Russian oil and energy major P.J.S.C. Tatneft in 2023 and rebranded as Ikon Tire L.L.C.
Nokian is replacing that lost capacity with a factory under construction in Oradea, Romania, which is scheduled to begin commercial-scale production in 2025.
Also under his watch, Nokian's North American passenger and light truck tire plant in Dayton, Tenn., reached a milestone of hiring 400 workers.
Moisio was president and CEO of global packaging company Huhtamäki Oyj prior to joining Nokian Tyres.
