COPLEY, Ohio — Balkrishna Industries Ltd. (BKT) has re-engaged Minoo Mehta — president of its U.S.-based operations from 2018 through mid-2022 — as managing director of Balkrishna Industries (BKT) Ltd. USA Inc. and BKT Tires Inc.
Mehta, who was president of BKT's U.S. operations from 2015 through July 2022, replaces Doug Kershaw, who resigned in late August as president of the Copley-based BKT subsidiary just 14 months after being promoted to succeed Mehta in that position.
According to BKT, Mehta played a crucial role in establishing BKT’s leading position in the U.S. off-highway tire market since joining the tire maker in 2014.
BKT said Mehta "has aimed at creating a customer-oriented team," helping BKT expand its USA market share in both the agriculture and medium and large OTR sectors..
Mehta also has focused on brand building and enhanced the company's partnership with Monster Jam, BKT said. Prior to joining BKT, Mehta worked for Hercules Tire & Rubber Co. and Om International.
Alan Eskow, vice president, will continue to manage the agricultural sector, and Chris Rhoades, vice president, will oversee the medium and large OTR sector.
Kershaw joined BKT in 20128 and was named in mid-December 2021 to succeed Mehta in 2022; that change took place in July 2022. At that time, Mehta stayed with the company as a senior adviser and member of the managing committee.
Maharashtra, India-based BKT ranks No. 27 in global tire sales — four places higher than it was a year earlier — according to the latest Global Tire Report rankings by Tire Business, with sales of $1.25 billion in 2022.
