DANVERS, Mass. — Maxam Tire North America Inc. has created a dedicated sales team focused on the open pit mining segment and enlarged the customer service team at its Danvers headquarters.

Maxam has appointed Matt Johnson — who joined the Danvers-based company in October 2019 after 13-plus years with Purcell Tire & Rubber Co. — vice president of Maxam Mining Group, which comprises an undisclosed number of "dedicated and knowledgeable" experts in the field.

The group comprises sales representatives on multiple continents responsible for serving regional market demands, Maxam said, without disclosing the number of individuals hired or their names.

Maxam said the Mining Group's engineering team leverages research and testing at multiple mine locations around the world to develop "site-specific" tire compounding and casing designs.

"We pride ourselves in delivering solutions with the lowest cost per hour/ton and provide long-term, mutually beneficial business relationships with our customers and our partnerships, …" Mr. Johnson said.

At the same time, Maxam Tire North America — a division of Maxam Tire International of Luxembourg, which in turn is part of China's Sailun Group — has expanded the customer service team in Danvers to support what it calls "substantial" growth of the firm's dealer network, especially in the mining and forestry sectors.

Maxam declined to say how many new representatives it's hired or to identify them.

"The decision to expand our customer service team in Boston was a logical step into our business growth strategy," Troy Kline, president of Maxam Tire North America, said, adding that "with the Maxam global dealer servicing network growing over 1,800 strong, we need a dedicated group of people to help us stay true to our mission of being a valuable business solutions provide."
