DUBLIN, Ohio — Jon Boyd, tire business manager for Boyd's Tire & Service of Westerville, Ohio, has taken the reins as president of the Ohio Tire & Automotive Association (OTAA), succeeding Jeff Wallick of K&M Tire Inc.
Boyd's first official duty was to oversee the OTAA's annual golf outing, held Aug. 7 at the Country Club at Muirfield Village in Dublin. The event, which was cut short by heavy rains about two-thirds of the way through, attracted 116 golfers from across Ohio and neighboring states.
During the event, the OTAA donated $3,000 to the Automotive Aftermarket Charitable Foundation (AACF) and honored Tom White, president of Tire Source in Akron, with the William Floyd Distinguished Service Award.
Chuck McCourt of McCourt Industries, an AACF board member, accepted the donation on behalf of the foundation, a nonprofit dedicated to providing emergency funding to automotive aftermarket members and their families.
White was recognized for his "many years of service" to the board, OTAA and the industry." He's been active in the tire industry for 36 years, including 32 with Tire Source.
Floyd was the executive director of the former Ohio Tire Dealers Association for 30 years before retiring in 2014.
Boyd will serve two years as president. As vice president, Jamie Ward of Tire Discounters is in line to succeed Boyd in 2025.
