HAMILTON, Ontario — Atturo Tire Corp. has hired industry veteran Bill Hume as its sales director for Canada, based in Hamilton.

Hume brings nearly 40 years of tire industry experience to this new position with Atturo, most recently as corporate account manager for National Tire Distributors.

Hume's hiring is part of the continued focus on growing international markets, Atturo said. The Waukegan, Ill.-based private label distributor also does business in Europe, the Middle East, Central and South America and Asia.

This marks Atturo's first consequential sales effort in Canada. Initially, shipments will be containerload shipments only, the company said, priced in U.S. dollars.

The company also is evaluating potential wholesale customers that could warehouse and distribute tires on its behalf.

Over the years Hume also has worked for Falken Tire Corp., Hunter Engineering Co., Atlas Tire Wholesale Inc., Hankook Tire Canada Inc., Bridgestone Canada and James Tire Centers.

"We are looking forward to expanding upon our historical presence in the Canadian market," Atturo Tire President Michael Mathis said.

"We think Bill Hume brings the right mix of experience and enthusiasm for both the product and the market to help Atturo achieve our distribution goals in Canada."

Commenting on his hiring, Hume said, "I am confident that the Atturo Tire lineup will be a strong and competitive brand in the Canadian market that will be well received across the country.

Atturo plans to offer its full portfolio of tires, Hume said, with special emphasis on the brand's winter, off-road and UTV tires, which he called a "perfect fit for the Canadian culture and lifestyle."

In announcing Hume's hiring, Atturo said its mission is to provide a range of sizes and fitments that meet the demands of both dealers and consumers through innovative engineering, aggressive styling and premium quality at a competitive price point.

Interested dealers and wholesalers can contact Hume at 905-928-0676 or [email protected]
