WHITE, Ga. — Toyo Tire Holdings of Americas Inc. has became the latest tire maker to idle its U.S. operations temporarily, suspending manufacturing at its plant in White due to the global impact of COVID-19.
Toyo said that phase down of production already has begun and will be completed within the next few days. The tire maker expects to resume production on April 19.
The Japanese-based manufacturer said its distribution centers are fully stocked and will remain open to service customers. Toyo said its warehouses continue to receive product from its overseas manufacturing plants.
Previously, Toyo said it had implemented preventative measures as recommended by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) to ensure the health and safety of its employees. Those measure include telecommuting, social distancing and routine cleansing and sanitizing of facilities and equipment.
