Meet the Best Places to Work 2023

Indiana is the place to be if you want to work in the tire business.

Four tire dealerships, including three across Indiana, have been named finalists in Tire Business' Best Places to Work survey.

Monteith's Best-One Tire & Auto Care, out of Elkhart, Ind., was the overall winner. The three other finalists in 2023, in alphabetical order, are Best-One Tire of Indy, headquartered in Indianapolis; Dorsey Tire, headquartered in Savannah, Ga.; and McMahon's Best-One Tire & Auto, based in Fort Wayne, Ind.

This is the fourth straight year Tire Business, in conjunction with Best Companies Group (BCG), has hosted the Best Places to Work (BPTW) survey, which seeks to recognize the best employers in the replacement tire and automotive service industries.

BCG, an independent research firm specializing in identifying and recognizing great places to work, once again conducted the survey.

Each business was asked to fill out two surveys. The owner or representative of the dealership/company submits the Employer Benefits and Policies Questionnaire, a survey detailing company policies, practices, benefits and demographics.

Employees, meanwhile, are asked to complete the Engagement and Satisfaction Survey.

The survey includes seven demographic and two open-ended questions.

Tire Business and BCG names only those businesses that receive recognition. Others that aren't named finalists remain anonymous.

Monteith's Best-One follows Tire Group International, a Miami-based wholesaler who was named winner last year.

Five companies were named finalists last year for the 2021-22 competition. They were:

Best-One of Indy; MFA Oil Co. franchisee, which operates 22 Big O stores across Missouri and Northwest Arkansas; Monteith's Best-One Tire & Auto Care; SimpleTire L.L.C. of Trevose, Pa., an online tire dealer; and Sun Auto Tire & Service, a Tempe, Ariz.-based dealership that operates more than 350 locations across the U.S.

SimpleTire was named the winner of the 2020 survey, while St. Louis Wholesale Tire, a family-run business that specializes in specialty tires and inner tubes, was named the winner of the inaugural Tire Business Best Places to Work survey competition in 2019.
