RANCHO CUCAMONGA, Calif. — The Specialty Equipment Market Association's (SEMA) Wheel & Tire Council (WTC) is planning a pair of live-streamed webinars in March on tires and wheels for electric vehicles (EVs).

The webinars, on March 9 and 16, will strive to provide those participating with the information they need to understand the role EV wheel and tires are playing in the aftermarket.

Both webinars are scheduled to start at 3 p.m. EST and are open to all interested parties.

In the March 9 webinar — Best Practices of Bringing Aftermarket EV Wheels & Tires to Market — experts from wheel and tire companies will discuss what they think distributors and retailers should expect of their vendors when it comes to offering emerging tech applications.

Scheduled speakers include Ryan Fuller, formerly of STL Labs; Dan Guyer, operations category manager at Keystone Auto; and Gary Ruede, product and quality management technologist at Discount Tire/America's Tire.

In the March 16 webinar — "EV Tires and Realistic Expectations for Your Customers" — four EV and tire experts will break down the design differences between tires for EVs and those for vehicles powered by internal combustion engines (ICE), the treadwear expectations of EV tires and what customers should expect when purchasing EV tires versus tires for ICE vehicles, including price ranges and more.

Scheduled speakers include: Discount Tire's Ruede; Karen Salvaggio, vice president of business development at Scorpion EV; Brenton Murray, founder and CEO of Electruck424.com; John McDonough, senior product manager, competition and specialty tires at Mickey Thompson Wheels & Tires; and Tyson Boyer, senior director of sales, key accounts, Dill Air Valves, who will serve as moderator.
