Survey: AAPEX attendees optimistic about in-person events

LAS VEGAS — Those registered for the AAPEX show in November seem optimistic about returning for in-person events, according to a recent survey.

Results of a global survey of AAPEX attendees show optimism and a high positive sentiment, with 86% indicating they are highly to extremely likely to return for a live experience this year, according to AAPEX organizers. The survey was conducted in April.

The annual AAPEX (Automotive Aftermarket Products Expo), which was held virtually last year, is scheduled to return to the Sands Expo and Caesars Forum Conference Center in Las Vegas, Nov. 2-4, in conjunction with the SEMA Show at the Las Vegas Convention Center, Nov. 2-5.

Historically, AAPEX features about 2,500 exhibiting companies and draws attendees in the automotive service and repair business, auto parts retailers, independent warehouse distributors, program groups, service chains, automotive dealers, fleet buyers and engine builders.

Survey results showed that 75% of attendees are either already vaccinated or plan to be vaccinated, boosting comfort and confidence in a return to in-person events, organizers said. After they receive the vaccine, 88% said they will be ready to return to in-person events.

In addition, 90% of respondents said in-person events are "irreplaceable," noting the show floor and networking are most important. Attendees said they want to test and compare the latest offerings in person, with 55% indicating they prefer the ability to evaluate products at the event.

AAPEX is owned by the Auto Care Association and the Automotive Aftermarket Suppliers Association (AASA). Organizers said they will take all appropriate and advisable precautions and measures as advised by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) Guidelines for COVID-19.

All attendees and exhibitors will be informed accordingly of any new or updated procedures, plans and details as they are determined, put in place or evolved moving toward the event in November, they said.
