NEW YORK — Honda Motor Co. has selected Pirelli S.p.A.'s P Zero tire as original equipment on the 2022 Acura NSX Type S, which is a limited run supercar that is available for customer orders in the U.S.
The vehicle will come with tailor-made P Zero tires in size 245/35ZR19 for the front and 305/30ZR20 for the rear.
Pirelli said its engineers used the company's experience as the Formula One race circuit tire supplier to design the tires, using data to evaluate, via computer simulations, various conditions of use and stress to which the tires may be subject under different conditions.
The Italian tire maker said the asymmetric tread pattern helps to provide "excellent steering precision and high grip in wet and dry conditions, translating into a great handling performance." The rear tire asymmetric mold profile was designed to provide high rear stability, Pirelli said.
Pirelli said the tire's high stiffness was engineered for maximum performance levels and makes this tire suitable for use on the track as well. According to the company, ultra high performance tread compounds were developed to promote high adhesion in wet and dry conditions and provide outstanding handling and braking performance.
The bespoke P Zero for the NSX Type S has the "H0" marking on the sidewall, which means it has been specially developed with Acura to enhance the performance of the supercar.
