SANTA ANA, Calif. — Yokohama Tire Co. and veteran racer Travis Pastrana are going hill climbing — again.
Pastrana will compete in the Subaru Mt. Washington Hillclimb presented by Yokohama Tire on Aug. 13-15 at Mt. Washington Auto Road in Gorham, New Hampshire.
Yokohama-sponsored Pastrana, who holds the record for the 7.6-mile course, will compete in a specially built 2020 Subaru WRX STI fitted with Yokohama Advan tires.
"We're thrilled to not only participate, but to be the presenting sponsor of this event as well," Fardad Niknam, Yokohama Tire's senior director of product planning and product marketing, said.
"It's an historic event with a passionate group of drivers, fans and followers. We are really looking forward to seeing Travis go for another course record and show what our Advan tires can achieve."
Pastrana is a five-time U.S. Rally Champion and set the Mt. Washington Hillclimb course record in 2017 with a time of 5 minutes, 44.72 seconds. Washington is a wild, bumpy, narrow road," Mr. Pastrana said. "It's scary/fun in any vehicle but racing up this year in the air-slayer STI on Yokohama tires is going to be one heck of a ride! Being one of the oldest races in the USA this is a prestigious event. I think there is a good chance for another record-run this year!"
