INGOLSTADT, Germany — German car maker Audi A.G. has selected a 17-inch version of Nexen Tire Corp.'s N'Fera AU7 all-season ultra-high-performance tire as an original equipment fitment on the 2023 Audi A3 for the North American market.

Volkswagen A.G. brand Audi selected the N'Fera AU7 in size 225/45R17 91H for the 2023 model of its fourth-generation Audi A3, which was refreshed in early 2020 with new exterior styling and robust enhancements in both performance and technology.

Nexen said the N'Fera AU7 is designed to deliver "excellent" driving performance in various weather and road conditions along with design technology that reduces noise and vibration compared with existing products. Wet weather performance is enhanced by the use of 3D nano grip siping technology.

Audi assembles the four-door, front-wheel-drive A3 sedan at its plant in Ingolstadt, Germany, and exports it to North America. Nexen builds the N'Fera AU7 at its plant in Changyoung, South Korea.

Sales of the car totaled 9,788 units in 2022, according to Tire Business sister publication Automotive News.

This is the second recently announced OE fitment for the N'Fera AU7 with Volkswagen Group. In January 2022 the companies disclosed a fitment on the 2022 VW Jetta.

"With more than 30 unique OE partnerships currently, Nexen Tire continues to add new and diverse OE applications to our supplier portfolio, reinforcing our goal of becoming a global top 10 tire manufacturer by 2025," Brian YoonSeok Han, CEO of Nexen Tire America Inc., said.
