Nexen gains OE fitment on redesigned Hyundai Kona

DIAMOND BAR, Calif. — Hyundai Motor Group has selected Nexen Tire Corp.'s N Priz S Grand Touring Tire as an original equipment fitment on the 2022 Hyundai Kona in the U.S. and South Korea.

The four-door, five-seat compact SUV, which has been redesigned, will feature size 215/55R17.

"Since the beginning of this year, we've aggressively expanded our OE supply portfolio," John Hagan, executive vice president of sales for Nexen Tire America Inc., said.

The Nexen N Priz S also is available to Nexen Tire dealers, although Nexen Tire did not disclose sizing or pricing information at this time.

"Our contribution as an OE supplier to the 2022 Hyundai Kona illustrates our driving commitment to the continued expansion of our original equipment portfolio and our overall growth plan of becoming a global top 10 tire manufacturer by 2025," Mr. Hagan said.

"We believe all of our OE relationships will play an integral part of achieving that goal."

The 2022 Hyundai Kona N comes with a 2-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine making 276 hp. It's mated to a dual-clutch automatic transmission with eight gears and paddle shifters.

Hyundai is equipping Kona SE, SEL and SEL Plus versions of the Kona. Other versions are spec'd with an 18-inch fitment.
