DIAMOND BAR, Calif. — Hyundai Motor Group has selected Nexen Tire Corp.'s Roadian GTX EV and the N'Fera Sport EV as the original equipment fitment for Kia's all-electric EV6, which is expected to go on sale in the U.S. early next year.
The all-season Roadian GTXEV will be fitted in size 235/55R19 101H and meets all the requirements of an EV tire in terms of safety, durability and low noise, Nexen said.
The N'Fera Sport EV, fitted in size 235/55R19 105V XL, improves on high-speed stability and handling performance while providing maximum grip and braking power on both wet and dry surfaces, the company said.
The EV6 is Kia's first EV model, based on Hyundai's Electric Global Modular Platform (E-GMP). According to Nexen, the EV6 can operate for nearly 300 miles on one charge. The State of Charge (SOC) mode can charge from 10% to 80% capacity in 18 minutes, Nexen said.
The EV tires provide higher abrasion resistance as well as minimizing tire road noise by employing noise reduction system by about 5dB compared to existing products, Nexen said.
Nexen Tire also supplies OE for Kia's Soul EV and U.S. EV startup Canoo.
