PEACHTREE CORNERS, Ga. — Mighty Auto Parts is celebrating 60 years in business this year.
The automotive aftermarket parts company started in 1963 when founder, Dallas "Dick" Wallace, started selling parts directly using his VW as a mobile office. Its first customers were small service stations in D.C. and Maryland.
Today, Mighty has more than 100 franchised distributors in 44 U.S. states and five international markets, and partners with more than 15,000 automotive service providers across the country.
Mighty said it helps auto parts professionals — new and used car dealers, independent repair shops, tire centers, national quick-service chains and fleets — "profitably manage and grow an exceedingly complex business, where both technical and operational skills must constantly evolve."
Mighty offers replacement parts as well as technical training and systems supports. They collaborate with locally-owned franchisees to provide inventory management based on local vehicles-in-operation data and trends, as well as customized marketing programs that foster customer satisfaction and loyalty.
"It is a great honor to be a part of an organization with such a rich history. Our franchises have been instrumental in Mighty's success for 60 years, and they will continue to inspire our innovation, diversification and competitive spirit in the future," President and CEO Josh D'Agostino said.
Mighty said it continues to build on its original MTY (Manufacturer-To-You) name and business model, employing rigorous franchisee screening, approval and training and a company-wide culture of personal service. Mighty exclusively partners with service providers rather than competing in retail consumer-direct channels.
