ALLEN PARK, Mich. — Belle Tire Distributors Inc. has hired industry veteran Felix Canestri as its director of procurement, where he will oversee Belle Tire's procurement procedures and support its growth plans.
Mr. Canestri, previously vice present of purchasing at Tire Discounters Inc., said he has admired Belle Tire for years, and its plans for the future drew him to the company.
"(Belle has) got an experienced, talented, deep team from the bottom to the top in procurement, operations and all the disciplines in between," Mr. Canestri said. "We are positioned well for the future. My hope is to build on the foundation of their success to help get the company to the next level."
Canestri, a graduate of the University of Cincinnati, joined Cincinnati-based Tire Discounters in 2003 as an e-commerce and sales support manager. He advanced through procurement at Tire Discounters and was named vice president in 2016.
"We are honored that Felix reached out to us," Belle Tire President Don Barnes III said. "We've known Felix for many years and seen the impact that he's had on Tire Discounters. We know he will complement our current team and culture. We are excited and confident that he can help us take our procurement practice to the next level and position us well to support our growth plans."
Belle Tire has opened nine stores in the Indianapolis market area and added three more in Michigan over the last 12 months. The company plans to open 11 more stories in Indiana in 2019.
Coupled with seven locations in South Bend and Fort Wayne, Belle is looking to have 27 stores in Indiana by year-end.
Family-owned Belle Tire opened its first store in Detroit in 1922. It operates 111 retail locations in Michigan, Ohio and Indiana, making it the 11th largest independent tire retailer in the U.S. based on number of stores.
