DANVERS, Mass. — Caterpillar Inc. has approved the Maxam MS302 L3 tire as a "factory fitment option" on its line of Cat medium wheel loaders in "certain regions," according to Maxam Tire North America.
The MS302 features a heavy-duty E3/L3+ design for enhanced traction and high heat resistance on loaders, graders and earthmovers, Maxam said, as well as to minimize vibration at haul speeds. Its cut- and tear-resistant rubber compound reduces the threat of downtime due to tire damage.
The MS302 L3 is approved for use on Cat 950GC, 950L, 950M, 962L and 962M medium wheel loaders in certain regions, but Maxam declined to specify what "certain regions" denotes or say whether the fitment option is available to customers in North America.
Maxam did say additional sizes of the MS302 also have been validated and approved for future factory fitment on additional Cat medium wheel Loaders.
In addition to developing a tire that meets Caterpillar's technical specifications, Maxam has built a global dealer servicing network of more than 1,300 dealerships, according to Matthew Fagan, director of R&D at Maxam Tire North America, the Danvers-based division of Maxam Tire International S.a.r.l., which in turn is a business unit of China's Sailun Jinyu Tire Group.
