FORT MILL, S.C. — Continental Tire the Americas has begun selling bias-ply General Tire agricultural tires in the U.S. and Canada as a complement to the Continental-brand radial program launched in 2018.
Conti said it's targeting the premium segment of the North American bias-ply agricultural tire market with the General V.ply lineup.
Conti stresses the V.ply architecture — up to 20 layers of high-resistance polymer fiber aligned in a specially angled V-pattern adapted from the tire maker's line of harbor-freight tires — combines the advantages of radial tires for handling, traction and rolling resistance with the "robust" capabilities of bias-ply tires.
Conti claims V.ply tractor tires perform well in damp conditions and on soft soil due to their well-distributed tread area contact pressure, which contributes to enhanced traction and maneuverability. The V.ply construction technology also contributes to strong sidewalls, Conti said, thus providing protection against cuts and punctures.
The Tractor V.ply line will be available in 17 sizes, ranging from 9.5-24 to 20.8-38.
Conti did not provide pricing information but said it would offer five-year warranty coverage on the General Tire line.
