    RANCHO CUCAMONGA, Calif. — Falken Tire Corp. has added road-hazard warranty protection in the U.S. and Canada to 11 of its passenger and light truck tire lines for tires purchased during calendar year 2019.

    Falken — part of Sumitomo Rubber North America Inc. — said adding road-hazard coverage was designed to reinforce Falken Tires' commitment to its customers by offering a free tire replacement through an authorized Falken dealer, should a tire become damaged due to unforeseen circumstances.

    In order to qualify, certain criteria must be met, Falken said, including: any damage that occurs must be within the first two years from the tire's purchase date, or within the first 3/32nds-inch of wear from original tread depth, whichever comes first.

    "We are always confident of the performance of our Falken tire lines," according to Darren Thomas, senior vice president of sales and marketing, "but in the unlikely event one of our customers suffers irreparable damage to their tire — having experienced some sort of road hazard — Falken Tires will be there to replace it.

    The lines covered are:

    • Wildpeak A/T3W and H/T;
    • Ziex CT60 A/S, S/TZ05 and ZE950 A/S;
    • Azenis FK510;
    • Sincera SN250 A/S and SN201 A/S;
    • Espia EPZ II and EPZ II SUV; and
    • Eurowinter HS449.

    Prior to this, Falken offered road-hazard coverage on just one line — the Ziez CT60. Additional lines may be added as the year unfolds, Falken said.

    Certain factors will prevent the warranty from being honored, Falken added, such as: racing or off-road use; improper tire maintenance; accident damage; fire, theft, natural disaster or vandalism; or the use of snow chains.

    Full coverage details are available on Falken's website.
