ROVERETO, Italy — Retread industry suppliers Marangoni S.p.A. and Borrachas Vipal S.A. are forming a partnership that will lead to the creation of what Marangoni calls the largest global independent player in the retreading sector.
Rovereto-based Marangoni and Porto Alegre, Brazil-based Vipal disclosed few details at this time about the partnership, saying only that it should increase their respective synergies and productivity, thereby strengthening the industrial and commercial organization.
The first phase of the partnership will involve activities in the Americas, Marangoni said, starting in 2019.
Marangoni Group Chairman Vittorio Marangoni called this the "first result of the new strategic lines of development we recently adopted."
Marangoni's presence in the industry covers tread rubber, retreading equipment, rubber compounding and industrial plant engineering. It operates industrial and commercial facilities in Germany, Turkey, the United Kingdom, the U.S., China, Brazil, Russia and South Africa and has 1,100 employees.
Vipal produces tread rubber, curing envelopes and tire repair materials at three plants in Brazil and has customers in 90 countries worldwide. Vipal has 3,000 employees and claims a production capacity of 18,000 metric tons per month.
Vipal has three distribution centers in the U.S., in Los Angeles, Miami and Virginia Beach, Va., to handle customers throughout North American market. The company dedicates one of its three plants to export production.
