NEDERWEERT, Netherlands — Dutch recycling firm Black Bear Carbon B.V. has hired recycling industry veteran Geert Glimmerveen to be its chief financial officer.
According to Black Bear, Mr. Glimmerveen's duties will include focusing on the global waste tire problem using the company's circular economy-based business model.
Most recently Mr. Glimmerveen was managing director for waste management and recycling company Van Gansewinkel N.V. (now Renewi P.L.C.) Netherlands. He has more than 30 years of experience working in senior finance and executive positions.
"At Van Gansewinkel, I was intrigued by the opportunities in the circular economy and in particularly by the combination of an attractive business model and the opportunity to make a positive impact for the environment," Mr. Glimmerveen said. "Black Bear is in a unique position to deliver on both promises."
Black Bear, founded in 2010, recycles used tires to create a recycled carbon black (rCB) that it then sells for use in technical rubber, coatings, plastics and inks.
"By adding Geert to our team, we gain the deep experience of someone who has successfully led growth organizations," Black Bear CEO Martijn Lopes Cardozo said.
"As we scale and roll out internationally, we need to make sure we also build a strong organization to support this."
