WOLFSBURG, Germany — Volkswagen A.G. has approved the Nexen N'Priz AH8 all-season tire as an OE fitment on the 2019 Jetta family sedan, according to Nexen Tire Corp.
The 2019 Jetta, the seventh generation of the car, is a compact four-door sedan assembled at VW's plant in Puebla, Mexico. VW redesigned the Jetta for the 2019 model to give it a coupe-like body design and installed a 1.4-liter turbocharged engine that offers EPA estimated highway fuel economy of 40 mpg. It comes with a choice of six-speed manual or eight-speed automatic transmission.
VW has sold more than 17 million units worldwide since the Jetta's launch in 1979. VW sold 71,337 Jettas in the U.S. so far in 2018 (through October), down 29 percent versus 2017, according to Automotive News data, reflecting in part the changeover to the 2019 model from the 2018.
The N'Priz AH8 features tread patterns that resembles shark fins that are designed using noise reduction simulation. Being the original equipment on the Jetta, it will provide a silent and comfortable riding experience. Also, applied with the multi-tread technology, N'Priz AH8 boasts both optimal traction on road and excellent fuel efficiency.
The Nexen fitment is the second OE fitment announced for the 2019 Jetta. VW also has spec'd 16- and 17-inch versions of the Falken Sincera SN250A All-Season tire as OE fitments on the 2019 Jetta sedan being sold in North America.
The Falken fitments will be sizes 205/60R16 92H and 205/55R17 91H.
