DANVERS, Mass. — Maxam Tire International S.a.r.l. has promoted Troy Kline, president of Maxam Tire North America Inc., to oversee the company's European operations after the recent retirement of Martin West.

Mr. Kline has been president of Maxam Tire North America since 2015, leading numerous business and commercial programs over that span. He will retain that title, too.

Before joining Maxam, Mr. Kline worked for eight years in heavy equipment manufacturing, and he has more than 18 years of specialty tire experience in roles of increasing responsibility with several companies, including Trelleborg A.B., Maine Industrial Tire and GPX International.

Danvers-based Maxam Tire North America is a division of Maxam Tire International of Luxembourg, which in turn is part of China's Sailun Group. Maxam specializes in specialty OTR tire products, covering applications for the mining, construction, warehousing and manufacturing industries.

According to Maxam Chairman and CEO Robert Sherkin, Mr. Kline helped to found Maxam's specialty tire business, "consistently building enterprise value, customer trust and the Maxam brand during his tenure.

"Troy is unwaveringly focused on delivering meaningful customer relationships, exceptional customer experience and unsurpassed product solutions," Mr. Sherkin said.

Maxam did not name a successor for Mr. Kline.

Mr. West, meanwhile, retired at the end of October after eight years with Maxam, overseeing Sailun Group's passenger/light truck and truck/bus tire portfolios across Europe, developing a network of distributors several markets.

According to Mr. Sherkin, Mr. West built the European operations from the ground up and oversaw the development and launch of several tire patterns, including the Sailun Atrezzo Eco high-performance line.

Since becoming Managing Director of Sailun Jinyu Group — Europe in 2016, Mr. West led numerous business and commercial programs that Mr. Sherkin said prompted sustained global growth for Maxam over the past 24 months, especially in the agricultural and mining industries.

"We wish to sincerely thank Martin for his impact to our business and culture," Mr. Sherkin said in a statement. "His leadership contributions are both numerous and distinguished."

Prior to joining Maxam Tire in 2010, Mr. West worked for Brisa Bridgestone Sabanci and Goodyear Europe, according to his LinkedIn page.
