FINDLAY, Ohio — Cooper Tire & Rubber Co. has added a deep-tread, mixed-service drive tire to its Severe Series truck and bus tire line.
The Cooper Severe Series MSD is engineered to handle the heavy scrub and cut- and-chip environments required of off-highway tires, while delivering long, even wear, according to Gary Schroeder, executive director of Cooper's global truck and bus tire business.
Triangular tie-bars in the outside shoulder help to promote traction throughout the tire's life, Cooper said, while also mitigating heel-toe wear.
The tire's durable casing/tread pattern includes stone ejectors to ensure multiple retreads beyond the original tread life. A full inch of tread depth helps extend tread life in both on- and off-road applications.
The Severe Series MSD is offered in two load-range H sizes, 11R22.5 (LRH) and 11R24.5 (LRH), available Nov. 1. Pricing information was not disclosed.
The Severe Series is one of three application-specific Cooper-brand medium truck tire lines the company launched in March. The others are the Pro Series for long-haul and Work Series for regional-haul, pick-up and delivery.
All are produced at the company's Cooper Qingdao Tire Co. venture in Qingdao, China.
