WASHINGTON — Indonesian tire maker P.T. Multistrada Arah Sarana Tbk. is recalling 6,318 Achilles-brand light truck tires for possible lower sidewall separation.
The tires are Achilles Desert Hawk A/P, size LT215/85 R16 115/112R 10PR, manufactured between May 8, 2015, and Sept. 5, 2018, according to a notice from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
NHTSA discovered the sidewall separation problem while performing required endurance testing on an Achilles tire, the agency said.
Multistrada will replace the tires free of charge and notify dealers and owners by Dec. 9, NHTSA said.
