Hankook gains OE fitment on 2018 VW Tiguan

NASHVILLE, Tenn. — Volkswagen of America Inc. has added the Hankook Ventus S1 noble 2 as an OE fitment on the 2018 Tiguan mid-size SUV.

Hankook Tire America Corp. becomes the third tire maker to announce an OE fitment on the second-generation Tiguan, a four-door, seven-passenger hatchback.

The others are Giti Tire (USA) Ltd. and Sumitomo Rubber Industries Ltd.

Hankook's fitment — in sizes 255/45R19H and 255/40R20V XL — is for the Tiguan R-Line sport-look version, which features a turbocharged engine and cosmetic changes to the front for a sportier look.

The Ventus S1 noble 2 is an all-season ultra-high performance tire that Hankook offers handling, low rolling resistance, reduced road noise and enhanced riding comfort performance, thanks to Hankook "3D vibration control" technology.

Hankook is sourcing the tires for the Tiguan from its plant in Guemsan, South Korea.

Hankook Tire's OE relationship with Volkswagen dates to 2001 and now includes fitments on VW's Jetta, Polo, Beetle, Golf, Passat, UP! and others.

Hankook said this contract "demonstrates its expanding global recognition as a premium brand."

VWoA assembles the Tiguan at its plant in Puebla, Mexico.

It is equipped with an eight-speed automatic that routes power to the available 4Motion all-wheel-drive system with four driving modes for various terrains.
