FORNEY, Texas — Goodyear is exploring options for a 1.2 million-sq.-ft. logistics center in Forney to enhance its North America distribution network, improve customer service and optimize costs.
The new center — to be located at the Gateway Development industrial park east of Dallas — will join Goodyear's network of 45-plus U.S.-based logistic centers and will feature advanced automation for faster and more accurate order fulfillment, as well as a modernized layout for efficient loading/unloading, shipping and storage, the company said.
According to reports in Texas media, the project will be part of Dallas-based Petro-Hunt L.L.C.'s 2,000-acre Gateway mixed-use development, which also includes homes and apartments.
Todd Finley, vice president of Hillwood Construction Services of Dallas, reportedly told Forney City Council his company would own the building and Goodyear would lease it.
"We are very excited to welcome one of the nation's most recognizable brands to Forney," City Manager Tony Carson said. "Their role as a leader in commerce continues to evolve and we look forward to being part of their innovation in the distribution of good and services.,”
The distribution center is anticipated to create at least 160 full-time positions, which would make Goodyear one of the major employers in Forney, the city said.
This investment further demonstrates Goodyear's commitment to ensuring customers get the right tires where and when they need them, the company said.
Forney is a community of about 14,000 located 20 miles east of Dallas, with close access to Interstate 20.
