TRAVERSE CITY, Mich. — Omni United USA Inc. is adding a "rugged terrain" tire line to its Radar Renegade portfolio, targeted at customers seeking a combination of off-road performance and on-road comfort and handling.

From a functionality point of view, the Radar Renegade RT+ falls between the existing Renegade All-Terrain and Mud Terrain lines, Omni United said. The line will launch this fall with 17 sizes with 33 more planned by early 2019.

Sizing will cover 15- to 24-inch rim diameters and will include F load-rated sizes developed to meet the needs of the newest heavy-duty models of light trucks in North America, Omni United said.

The Renegade RT+ features computer-optimized tread blocks with multiple lateral grooves and angled sipes, which ensure superb traction on variable terrain, along with a reinforced carcass construction to reduce the risk of punctures.

Other features include wide center tread blocks that help balance the weight distribution for stability and ensure even treadwear, plus stone-ejectors to reduce the lodging and drilling of stones in the tread.

The Renegade RT+ also features a distinct sidewall design on both sidewalls, allowing drivers the choice of an "Outlaw" side with skull and piston and wedge-shaped side biters or the mud-penetrating side with dagger-shaped side biters.

The side biters offer added traction and sidewall protection.

"Based on customer demand and market trends, we have seen an increased need for a Rugged Terrain tire to add to the offering in our Renegade family," Scott Rhodes, vice president of sales for North America, said.

"The Renegade RT+ is the perfect combination of the aggressive and rugged looks customers crave and great on and off-road performance, with multiple sizes available in the higher load-carrying capacity for the newest heavy-duty truck models."

The F load-rated sizes are able to carry heavier loads at higher inflation pressure (80 psi) compared with tires of the same size with an E-rated load range, the company said, noting that its research shows growing demand for these higher load-carrying capacity sizes.

No pricing information was disclosed. The company is sourcing the line from China's Shandong New Continent Tire Co. Ltd., according to the tire's DOT code.
