    WAUKEGAN, Ill. — Waukegan Tire & Supply Co. is marking its 50th year as a family-owned dealership with four locations serving customers throughout Northern Illinois and Southeast Wisconsin.

    Waukegan Tire was founded in 1968 by Gerald (Jerry) Nerheim, who built a reputation for staying ahead of the curve and embracing new trends in the industry.

    As part of the anniversary celebration, Waukegan Tire is offering several promotions, including:

    • $50 off a set of four new tires installed;
    • $50 off a set of new custom wheels installed; and
    • $50 off mechanical services totaling $350 or more.

    The promotions run through October 28.

    Waukegan Tire also is hosting three drawings with prizes that include two sets of four new tires (up to a $500 value) and a grand prize of a set of new tires and wheels, valued at up to $1,500.

    In 2015, Mr. Nerheim was named "Businessman of the Year" by the Illinois State Crime Commission, for his support of law enforcement and the community.

    At age 83, "he still enjoys working every day and is most happy when taking good care of customers. He leads by example setting the bar high for standards of customer service," the dealership said.

    The dealership, which operates two stores in Waukegan and one each in Grayslake and Park City, Ill., has achieved recognition as an AskPatty.com Certified Female Friendly business and provides automotive service education for women and the young drivers.

    "I attribute our success to our loyal customers and dedicated employees who are like extended members of our family," Mr. Nerheim, president and CEO, said. "Our industry knowledge and the commitment of our employees over the many years in which have built this business are what sets Waukegan Tire apart."

    "We have developed successful long-term relationships with our customers and suppliers that build trust, while continuing to invest in our community." Chief Operating Officer Steve Nerheim said. "I am honored to have worked along side my father for over 35 years, which gives me great insight to continue to enhance our company vision going forward."

    Waukegan Tire offers a full range of automotive services, including air conditioning and heating , alignments, batteries and starting systems, brakes, emission systems and engine services, nitrogen tire inflation, steering and suspension, tire services, wipers and vision, along with preventative maintenance services.

    The dealership carries several major tire brands, including Michelin, BFGoodrich, Uniroyal, Hankook, Goodyear and Nokian, as well as a large assortment of wheel brands. The business also sells custom wheel and tire packages.
