MONTREAL — Tire safety equipment manufacturer Martins Industries Inc. has developed a tire trolley to help prevent workplace injuries and accidents by reducing the need for intensive tire handling.
The product, called the Canuck Tire Puck because of its Canadian origins and resemblance to a hockey puck, can handle up to 300 pounds and comes with four swivel caster wheels that glide easily, according to Martins.
The Canuck Tire Puck is equipped with brakes and features a UV-resistant frame. Martins said it can be maneuvered with stacked tires with aid from its Tire Riders tire carts.
Martins said technicians will be able to stack tires on the trolley, then move them easily from one location to the next.
Martin Depelteau, president and founder of Martins, said the product was designed by the firm's R&D department in response to seeing customers using wooden or steel platforms to move tires.
"So... Martins created a sturdy, simple and cost-effective solution. And we decided, why not call it the Canuck Tire Puck. After all, the marketing department is in Canada."
