TROY, Mich. — Sensata Technologies Inc. has promoted Dan Baker to global sales director of its Schrader Performance Sensors business, a new position, and named Robert Tinson to succeed Mr. Baker as director of sales, North America.

Shrader — a developer of tire-pressure-monitoring sensor (TPMS) technology — said Mr. Baker's promotion reflects its efforts to enhance the firm's global presence in the TPMS arena. He will be tasked with uniting the company's sales forces in North America and Europe to increase productivity and streamline processes.

"This new sales leadership position demonstrates Schrader's intention to remain the global leader in TPMS," Kelly Boor, general manager for Sensata Technologies' Aftermarket Business, said.

"This role will help us leverage the strengths in each region and drive best practices and alignment across both."

Mr. Baker brings 29-plus years of automotive aftermarket experience — including 25 with Schrader — to his new position. He played a key role in launching Schrader's aftermarket TPMS program in North America in 2004 and has held positions of increasing responsibility in procurement, product management and sales, Shrader said.

"Rob has played a key role in North American TPMS sales for many years," Mr. Boor added. "I have no doubt he is the right person for his new role and will have a very positive impact on our North American market."

Mr. Tinson — an automotive aftermarket veteran with 15 years' experience — will be responsible for Schrader's TPMS aftermarket sales in the U.S. and Canada. Prior to this he was senior national sales manager, covering the U.S. market.

In addition, Schrader recently hired Lee Engelhardt as regional sales manager for the North Central U.S. and Marc Russo as regional sales manager, Eastern U.S.

Mr. Engelhardt moves to Schrader from Dana Corp., where he was senior account manager for Eastern Canada and the U.S. Midwest, Mid-Atlantic and New England territories. Prior to that he worked for Bosch.

Mr. Russo comes to Schrader from BWP Distributors/Carquest, where he was vice president, sales. He also has work experience at Tenneco Inc.'s Monroe Auto Equipment division and at his family's Delta Auto Parts business in Greenwich, Conn.
